Having had the opportunity to test the 15” Ultra Lightweight Thin M-LOK System Free Floating Handguard in OD Green, I can honestly say it’s a standout piece for anyone serious about their AR-308 setup. The first thing that catches your eye is the sleek, slim profile — it feels incredibly lightweight without sacrificing rigidity or durability. Despite the monolithic top rail, the overall feel remains balanced, and handling is noticeably more comfortable during extended shooting sessions.
The quality of the material is impressive; it’s clear this handguard was built with high-grade aluminum and finished with attention to detail. The OD Green color matches well with other tactical gear, and the coating appears resilient against scratches and wear, which is essential for operational or long-term use. The M-LOK slots are precisely machined and align perfectly, allowing for secure attachment of accessories like lights, grips, or lasers without wobble or fuss.
What truly sets this handguard apart is its free-floating design, which enhances accuracy by preventing barrel contact during firing. The monolithic top rail offers a seamless platform for mounting optics or sights, simplifying setup and aiding in consistent target acquisition. Its thin profile aids maneuverability, especially in tactical or hunting scenarios where quick handling is a priority.
Despite being discontinued, this model still holds up as a high-performance piece that offers excellent value, especially if you find it at a good price. The installation was straightforward, fitting smoothly onto my AR-308 upper without any issues. I appreciated the attention to weight reduction without compromising strength — it feels solid when mounted, and I haven’t experienced any flex or bending.
Overall, this handguard is a fantastic choice for anyone upgrading their AR-308 or looking for a lightweight, durable, and well-designed handguard with ample accessory mounting options. While it’s no longer in production, for those who can find it, it’s definitely worth considering. Its blend of quality, design, and performance makes it a worthwhile investment for both tactical enthusiasts and serious shooters alike.
